Term 3 - Week 6

Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Congratulations to all our students who received certificates and awards at our campus assemblies this week. Well done to our Grade 1 students who sang and signed in Auslan ‘Home Among the Gum Trees’ and to the Grade 3 students who showed off their circus tricks.

Grade 5 Reptile Incursion

Our Grade 5 students had an exciting, hands-on learning experience today with a special reptile incursion! They discovered fascinating facts about snakes, lizards, turtles, and more – and even had the chance to get up close with these amazing creatures.

Staff Network Curriculum Day

Last Friday, our staff joined colleagues across the network for a Common Curriculum Day focused on VTLM.2 and evidence-based practice. Throughout the day, our teachers and education support staff explored effective strategies to deepen learning, strengthen consistency across classrooms, and use data to inform teaching practices. Collaborative sessions allowed staff to share insights and develop new approaches that will directly benefit our students. We look forward to bringing these strategies back to the classroom and continuing to build engaging, high-impact learning experiences for every student.

Grade 1 Excursion

Our Grade 1 students are getting ready for an exciting day at Edendale Farm on Monday of next week! They’ll explore nature, learn about sustainable living, and meet some friendly farm animals. A huge thank you in advance to our amazing parent helpers for joining us – your support makes these experiences possible.

And lastly, don’t forget our Father’s Day Stalls are coming up next Thursday (Ambrosia) and Friday (Arrowsmith). Looking forward to drawing the raffle too!

Take care,

Christine Cole

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.

The survey results will be communicated to parents / caregivers / guardians through annual reporting once results become available to us. Last year we used the survey results to plan for the following year.

Information was sent out via Compass. If you would like more information, please contact the office.

Connecting Schools to Indian Communities

Beveridge Primary School is very excited to have received the Connecting Schools to Indian Communities Grant from the Department of Education for 2025. We started a dance (Ambrosia) and art (Arrowsmith) program at our campuses last week with some chosen students.

The program with the Indian community gives students a chance to explore a rich and colourful culture while learning new skills. Through movement, music, and creative art, students discover the importance of storytelling, tradition, and celebration in Indian life. These activities encourage teamwork, creativity, and confidence while helping to develop an appreciation for cultures different from their own. For students with Indian backgrounds, the program is a special way to share and celebrate their heritage.

The students will get to showcase their learning with the school community at our Festival of Colour celebration on Friday 17th October at our Ambrosia campus.

Drop off/pick up processes

Dear Parents and Families,

I am writing to remind you of the safe drop off/pick up processes to ensure our students get home safely.

Please note that students are only supervised until 3:30pm. Any students not collected by this time will be placed in Team Kids After School Care, which will be an additional cost to families.

Arrowsmith St drop-off/pickup zone only

  • This area is strictly pick up and drop off only. No parking and leaving your car.
  • Use both lanes to collect children and wait until you have entered the fenced zone so that children can safely get to cars.
  • Pull up closely to the car in front of you so that we can get the most students possible loaded into cars.
  • Do not ask children to run across traffic to get to your car.
  • Please wait to load children from the zone only, not from the road.
  • When performing a u-turn please do not push in front of other cars already in the queue
  • Please do not double park or overtake others in the bays.
  • If your child is not at the gate when you arrive, do not wait, please do the loop again and join the line
  • If you wish to park please use Spring St to park and walk back to the school for pick ups.
  • Do not park in the disabled parking spaces unless you have permit

Lithgow St (bottom gate)

Parents and families are asked to park in the Community Centre car park and are to walk up to the undercover Basketball court area to collect their child/ren and walk them back to their car safely.

Children are not permitted to leave the school grounds without an adult/parent.

We will continue to provide the safest processes for our students, their families and staff.

Please advise children of where they will be collected after school when dropping them off each day. If possible only use one point for pick-ups every day to make it easier for them.

Please be respectful to all staff on duty and any traffic management workers.

Thank you,

Christine Cole

M&M Student leaders

On the 21st of August, we went down to Wallan Primary School to do a workshop with Kylie Captain on setting goals for our future and thinking about multicultural learning. Some of other schools in the Mitchell shire joined us for a one of a kind experience. First, we found a table with people from different schools and introduced ourselves. Then, we watched a few videos and listened to the host talk about some of the moments and experiences she had during her youth. One of the key parts Kylie really elaborated on was showing gratitude and being awesome. Later, Kylie brought out her Posca markers and we had to draw on a black piece of paper and write some positive quotes. Then, we gathered in a circle and said one word we would take back from the day, after everyone had shared, we took a photo and then went back to school.
