Term 3 - Week 7

Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It’s been an exciting week for Beveridge PS with news of additional modular classroom buildings and a toilet block for next year. Please make sure you take the time to read the information sent out on Compass this afternoon regarding upcoming changes to our campuses for 2026.

Grade 1 Edendale Farm Excursion

On Monday our Grade 1 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Edendale Farm. They explored the gardens, met the farm animals, and learned about sustainable farming and caring for our environment.

A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who joined us on the day and supported our students. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience, and the children came back full of stories to share!

Maths Consultant Visit

Today we had another visit from our Maths consultant, James Dobson, who is supporting us at Beveridge PS to transform our teaching of Mathematics to align with the Explicit Direct Instruction approach. James has spent the day observing, coaching, and mentoring our teaching teams at the Junior campus.

Grade 6 Alexandra Adventure Camp

Next week, our Grade 6 students will be heading off for their three-day camp at Alexandra Adventure Camp. They are looking forward to an action-packed program that includes outdoor activities, team-building challenges, and plenty of opportunities to develop independence and resilience. We wish our students and staff a fantastic camp experience and can’t wait to hear all about their adventures when they return!

Father’s Day Stalls

Our Parents and Friends committee have out-done themselves again by delivering a wonderful Father’s Day stall at the Senior campus this morning and are all set up for tomorrow at the Junior campus.

District Athletics - tomorrow

We are proud to have a select number of Grade 4 - 6s competing in our district athletics tomorrow at Meadowglen. We will all be cheering for you from school. Good luck!

Take care,

Christine Cole

Principal

Young Leaders Day

On the 29th of august 2025 the student leaders were hosting a young leader’s day; the young leader’s day was hosted at our school (BPS). For young leaders’ day we did lots of fun activities such as making paper airplanes. with the paper airplanes as a group, we made a different variety of airplanes and chose one to fly with in a competition. We also did mini games. Those games were, making a line from tallest to shortest and a line from a-z. We played charades because this session was about not using our voices but still communicating. We also made drawings, but we couldn't talk. We did this in a group. You would see what everyone was making because of what they drew. and lastly, we did a balloon tower at the end we got to pop the balloons. And of course, we got breaks in between. During those breaks most people played basketball or played on the playground. Overall, we all had an amazing time seeing people that used to go to our school or seeing people new.

On August the 29th,the school leaders from other schools came to Beveridge Primary school. We did a bunch of activities hosted by Sharon and some other SSS staff, firstly, we got into an order from a-z and after that we got into height order and both we couldn't use verbal communication and it was very hard, but we managed. Next, we got numbers from 1-8 and that was what group we were with, and we did charades, and we also couldn't use verbal communication. In our groups, we got to make paper airplanes and vote on what one was the best and we did a throwing competition after. We did a drawing, and we couldn’t talk, and the students got to share the drawing with everyone else. Lastly, we did a balloon challenge where we saw who can make the highest balloon tower with masking tape and we got to pop all the balloons after it. Overall, we had a fun day with the school leaders, and they made a bunch of new friends that they might see in future times

Edendale Farm Excursion

On Monday September 1st, the Year 1 students visited Edendale Farm. We took part in various activities throughout the day. During the farm tour, we saw the sheep, goats and fed the chickens. The students discussed the habitat of many Australian animals. Students also decorated a calico bag using flowers  to print a design. We learnt about the importance of worms to create healthy soil for plants to grow.

Tree Planting

As  a part  of our Inquiry unit, Year 1 students have taken part in creating a habitat garden. The students worked in groups to plant, water and mulch a plant. We are now taking care of our plants by watering them a couple of times a week.

Connecting Schools to Indian Communities

Our Indian Dance and Art program is well underway, and students are enjoying a wonderful cultural learning journey. Through dance, students have been exploring traditional Indian movements developing confidence, teamwork, and expression.

In art, classes have been experimenting with detailed henna-inspired designs, and mosaic-style creations, learning about the meaning and symbolism behind each. The program has also given students the chance to connect Indian traditions with their own creativity. We look forward to sharing their artworks and performances with families and our community at our FESTIVAL OF COLOUR celebrations Friday 17th October at our Ambrosia campus.
