Term 4 - Week 6

Principal's Message

Dear Families,

We are now half way through term four! It is quite scary to think that the school year will be over in five more weeks!

This week we had our Maths consultant, James Dobson, back with us at both the campuses to support and inform our teaching of Mathematics. It was wonderful to have James visit classes, undertake observations and give teachers feedback on how we can get better and better at our teaching.

Remembrance Day

This week we acknowledge and commemorate Remembrance Day which is held each year on the 11th November. On Tuesday we held a special service and observed 1 minutes silence to remember those who we have lost at war.

Grade 1 Transition Visits to Ambrosia

Last Friday our Grade 1A&B students enjoyed a fun filled day at the senior campus to get ready for 2026. They had a fabulous day getting to know the campus and their grade 5 buddies. Next Fri 21st Nov, we have our Grade 1 C,D&E students having their transition day.

Student Placement 2026

We are currently working through the process of creating our 2026 classes. To assist us with this process, we would appreciate it if parents could notify us if their child will NOT be enrolled at Beveridge PS in 2026.

Take care,

Christine Cole

2026 Parent Payments and Booklists

Dear Families,

2026 parent payments and booklists were sent out via Compass.

Parent support allows us to enhance our students learning experience and we have a range of payment options available to families for our voluntary parent payments, including a flexible contribution plan which can be arranged through Compass, parent payments received by the 12th of December will also go into the draw to win a $200 Woolworths voucher.

A friendly reminder that the 2026 booklist can be ordered at https://booklist.paperchase.com.au/ and need to be ordered by Friday 19th December 2025 in order for your child/ren to receive their books ready for the start of the 2026 school year.

2026 booklists can be found here.

Step Up Day

On Tuesday 9th December we have our step up/transition day. This means all students will spend the day in their 2026 year level.

All grade 6 students attending a public secondary school in 2026, will attend their secondary school they have enrolled in. This is a statewide transition day for all public secondary schools. Grade 6 students attending a private secondary school in 2026 are still required to attend school on Tuesday as normal.

All 2025 grade 1 and 2 students will spend the day at the Ambrosia Way Campus to transition for 2026 grade 2 and 3. This means that all 2025 grade 1 and 2 students need to be dropped off at Ambrosia Way for a 9am start and picked up at 3.30pm (end of school day).

Please remember that if using Team Kids for a grade 1 or 2 student on this day, you need to book with Team Kids at Ambrosia Way.

2026 Student Placement

Dear Families,

The staff and I will soon commence forming classes for next year.

A documented process is followed to ensure that a high level of consideration and consultation occurs before classes are announced in December.

The ultimate goal for this process is to create well balanced, grouped classrooms of students. We will consider students’ strengths and needs in regard to academia, social capabilities, learning and behavioural style needs and peer relationships.

It is a major undertaking which we address thoroughly and thoughtfully. It takes a considerable amount of time and dedication to complete and professional judgement is always used.

We are asking for Beveridge PS parents/carers to commit to:
• Supporting and accepting decisions made by the school; and
• Being positive with your child/ren about the class and placement decision that has been made.

One change at any grade level creates a domino effect that impacts the classroom balance we work so hard to achieve. Because of this, we are asking for special considerations early on so that we can do a comprehensive job of addressing needs.

Parents must put in writing to Christine Cole (Principal) any considerations regarding your child’s placement for next year. This letter must outline in detail the important and relevant information you believe should be considered in the placement of your child/ren.

Parent requests for certain teachers or specific gender will not be granted. Neither will the request to not have a shared teacher grade. (We are more than happy to discuss how this works and it also needs to be equitable for staffing).

Please include your child’s name, 2025 class and your name on the letter. Please email letters by 4:00pm Friday 28th November to beveridge.ps@education.vic.gov.au

ENROLMENTS FOR 2026
This is the time of the year where we plan staffing and grade placement for 2026, therefore it is vital that an accurate enrolment prediction is made. If you have a prep sibling that is not yet enrolled, this should be done immediately to ensure a place at this school next year.

STUDENTS NOT RETURNING IN 2026
Please inform the office in writing ASAP if your child is NOT returning to Beveridge PS in 2026.

Kind regards,
Christine Cole

School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPBS) House Points

This term, the student leaders have chosen the reward for our School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPBS) House Points system.

In weeks 3, 6 and 9, students in the winning house can wear their House colour on a specific day and receive a zooper dooper as a reward (please advise the school if you do not want your child to receive a zooper dooper).

All students in the winning houses need to come in school uniform but are welcome to come in a splash of their house colour – this can be a t-shirt, socks, hair accessories etc.

Students can come in a splash of their house colour tomorrow, Friday 14th November if they are in the winning house.

The winning house for this week are:
Gawa (Green) - Arrowsmith campus
Warrin (Yellow) - Ambrosia campus
