Term 4 - Week 7

Principal's Message

Dear Families,

This week our Grade 1 students enjoyed their Tiddalick incursion on Tuesday. Learning about the Aboriginal Dreamtime story ‘Tiddalick the Frog’ through a drama workshop. This in-school program is designed to teach children about Indigenous Australian culture, teamwork, and the importance of water through interactive storytelling and role-play.

Grade 6 Visit to Arrowsmith

Our 6A students spent the day at the Junior campus on Wednesday. They had a fabulous day helping students in the classrooms, playing sports at playtimes, and selling Zooper Doopers to all students (and staff) at lunch time. Looking forward to having the 6C students at the campus next Wednesday.

Foundation Transition

We have our second transition day tomorrow! We will be welcoming our 2026 Preps to the Arrowsmith campus and having a parent information session. I am looking forward to meeting our future students and families.

Step Up Day Tuesday 9th December

It is hard to believe that our students will be ‘Stepping Up’ to their 2026 classes very soon to meet their new teacher and classmates. More information will follow closer to the date with an overview of the program for the day.

Our teachers are into the busy part of the term with report writing. All reports will be live on Compass for families to access from Monday 15th December.

Take care,

Christine Cole

2026 Student Placement

Dear Families,

The staff and I will soon commence forming classes for next year.

A documented process is followed to ensure that a high level of consideration and consultation occurs before classes are announced in December.

The ultimate goal for this process is to create well balanced, grouped classrooms of students. We will consider students’ strengths and needs in regard to academia, social capabilities, learning and behavioural style needs and peer relationships.

It is a major undertaking which we address thoroughly and thoughtfully. It takes a considerable amount of time and dedication to complete and professional judgement is always used.

We are asking for Beveridge PS parents/carers to commit to:
• Supporting and accepting decisions made by the school; and
• Being positive with your child/ren about the class and placement decision that has been made.

One change at any grade level creates a domino effect that impacts the classroom balance we work so hard to achieve. Because of this, we are asking for special considerations early on so that we can do a comprehensive job of addressing needs.

Parents must put in writing to Christine Cole (Principal) any considerations regarding your child’s placement for next year. This letter must outline in detail the important and relevant information you believe should be considered in the placement of your child/ren.

Parent requests for certain teachers or specific gender will not be granted. Neither will the request to not have a shared teacher grade. (We are more than happy to discuss how this works and it also needs to be equitable for staffing).

Please include your child’s name, 2025 class and your name on the letter. Please email letters by 4:00pm Friday 28th November to beveridge.ps@education.vic.gov.au

ENROLMENTS FOR 2026
This is the time of the year where we plan staffing and grade placement for 2026, therefore it is vital that an accurate enrolment prediction is made. If you have a prep sibling that is not yet enrolled, this should be done immediately to ensure a place at this school next year.

STUDENTS NOT RETURNING IN 2026
Please inform the office in writing ASAP if your child is NOT returning to Beveridge PS in 2026.

Kind regards,
Christine Cole

Step Up Day

On Tuesday 9th December we have our step up/transition day. This means all students will spend the day in their 2026 year level.

All grade 6 students attending a public secondary school in 2026, will attend their secondary school they have enrolled in. This is a statewide transition day for all public secondary schools. Grade 6 students attending a private secondary school in 2026 are still required to attend school on Tuesday as normal.

All 2025 grade 1 and 2 students will spend the day at the Ambrosia Way Campus to transition for 2026 grade 2 and 3. This means that all 2025 grade 1 and 2 students need to be dropped off at Ambrosia Way for a 9am start and picked up at 3.30pm (end of school day).

Please remember that if using Team Kids for a grade 1 or 2 student on this day, you need to book with Team Kids at Ambrosia Way.

Craft sand contamination update

You may be aware of a recent alert about coloured craft sand products that may contain asbestos.

There is a list of the products of concern here:

At our school, we are taking the steps set out by the Department of Education to collect and dispose of the product.

Current advice from national and Victorian health authorities is that there is a low risk to human health from these products.

If you have the product at home, however, the advice from the health authorities is that you should stop using it and follow the safety advice published here: Safe disposal and health information for consumers with recalled sand products | ACCC Product
