Dear Families,
I would like to sincerely thank our Campus Principal, Ms Silvia Menelaou, for stepping into the role of Acting Principal over the past eight weeks while I undertook a senior leadership role with the Department of Education. Ms Menelaou’s leadership, commitment and care for our school community ensured a smooth and positive continuation of our work. I am grateful for her dedication and the way she supported both staff and students during this time. I am very pleased to be back at school and look forward to continuing to lead and support our community in the term ahead.
Congratulations to all our grade 4-6 students who participated in the Athletics Sports day this year! The next round of the student competition with other schools is during term 3.
Congratulations to all our students who received certificates and awards at our campus assemblies this week. Well done to our Grade 3 students who shared what they have been learning in class and played a true and false game with the audience.
Cross Country Trials Grades 4-6
Running trials will take place at the Ambrosia campus next week on Thursday for those students wanting to participate. We have many students who will be competing in the upcoming District event on Friday 29th May.
Student Attitudes to School Survey grades 4-6
From next week all students in grade 4-6 will have the opportunity to complete the annual survey. This survey asks students questions about how much they enjoy school, how they learn best, if they are being challenged in their learning and other questions related to their overall wellbeing. The data collected will then be utilised by the leadership team to inform our future planning.
Take care,
Christine Cole

Grade 1 Newsletter Week 3 Term 2
Maths
In Maths, the Year 1 students have been using various materials to identify, continue and make patterns. Students began by activating their prior knowledge by making AB patterns with unifix blocks and coloured teddies. Next, students learnt how to identify the ‘unit of repeat’ to continue and make ABB and AAB patterns.
Inquiry
In Inquiry, the Year 1 students have been learning about how light travels. This has included making observations about how light travels, sharing ideas and observations and explaining how some materials block light!
English
In English, the Year 1 students have been learning about procedural texts. They have been identifying the structure of the texts and using verbs to write the instructions. Students wrote their own steps for ‘How to Wash a Dog’ using verbs such as rinse, dry and scrub.
This term, students have been developing their understanding of information texts, focusing on identifying key features and how they help readers learn. They explored elements such as headings, images, and factual language, and worked collaboratively to create their own informative posters.
We are looking forward to building on these skills as we move towards our Wild Action Incursion in Week 6, where students will have the opportunity to apply their learning in an exciting real-world context.
In Digital Technologies, students have been learning about the difference between hardware and software, and how each plays an important role in how computers function. They have also been developing their skills in creating digital and physical texts, focusing on key features such as titles, bold text, and basic editing functions like insert and delete.
It has also been a great start to Grade 3 Sport, with students enthusiastically participating in a NRL session. They have shown excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and willingness to try new activities. It has been lovely to see students encouraging one another and building confidence in a supportive environment.
We look forward to continuing to develop their skills and enjoyment of physical activity throughout the term.
Grade 4 Newsletter – Camp at Billabong Ranch
Dear Families,
WOW… What a camp! Our Grade 4 students had an absolutely amazing time at Billabong Ranch, and it’s safe to say there were plenty of smiles, laughs, and tired faces by the end of it!
The Journey There… and Back
The bus ride there was full of excitement, chatter, and big energy – you could definitely tell something special was ahead!
The ride home… Well, that was a very different story. Quiet, sleepy, and full of exhausted campers recovering from a huge few days of fun.
Action-Packed Adventures
Students threw themselves into every activity, including:
camel riding, horse grooming, mini golf, bungee trampolines, orienteering, paddle boats, canoeing, beach volleyball, bouldering, the commando course, and the always-entertaining Stockman Show.
It was incredible to see so many students stepping outside their comfort zones and having a go at everything.
Camp Vibes & Late Nights
Let’s just say… there wasn’t a lot of sleeping happening early on!
Students had an absolute blast staying up a little later than usual, chatting, laughing, and making memories with their friends. These are the moments that really make camp special.
Teachers in on the Fun
One of the highlights was seeing the teachers jump right in and join the activities! Whether it was having a go themselves, cheering students on, or sharing a few laughs, it made the experience even more fun and memorable for everyone.
So Much to Be Proud Of
Throughout the camp, students showed fantastic:
We are incredibly proud of how they represented our school.
Memories Made & A Big Thank You
This camp was filled with moments our students will remember for years to come – from adventurous activities to late-night laughs with friends.
A huge thank you to all staff who attended and made this experience so special, and to you for your support in preparing the students. It truly makes a difference and helped ensure such a successful and memorable camp.
Kind Regards,
Grade 4 Team
In Performing Arts at Arrowsmith the Foundation and Grade1 students have been busy learning and practising their song in preparation for the school concert later this year in Term 3. The students have been learning to control their pitch and to sing in time with accurate rhythm. Over the next few weeks the students will begin adding dance moves and actions to their song and focussing on their performance face.
ART Ambrosia Year 4 Term 2: Week 3
Our Grade 4 Art students at the Ambrosia campus participated in a directed drawing experience to create an island tiki hut scene. They explored the concept of background, middle-ground and foreground areas within artwork pieces. Students used their imagination to add island themed elements and detail to their design. They developed their understanding of shading and blending techniques and applied these skills to add depth and dimension to their artwork.
