Dear Families,

What a jam-packed Term 3 we have had at Beveridge Primary School! From Book Week, Foundation’s 100 Days of School, Sporting comps, the Beveridge Beats concert, Grade 6 Camp, and a wide range of excursions and incursions, there has certainly been plenty happening across both campuses.

I am incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved throughout the term; in particular in the way they have demonstrated our school values of Respect, Resilience, Excellence and Togetherness. 

A big thank you to our staff, families and volunteers who continue to support the many opportunities we are able to provide for our students.

School Hats

With the warmer and sunnier weather beginning to return, it’s time for school hats to come back out! Please ensure your child brings their school hat each day. From the beginning of Term 4, our ‘No Hat, No Play’ rule will be in place, with students without a hat required to remain in designated shaded areas during recess and lunchtime.

Footy/Sports Colours Day – Today!

We’re finishing the term with some fun today with our Footy/Sports Colours Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear the colours or clothing of their favourite footy or sporting team. We’re looking forward to seeing plenty of friendly sporting rivalry across both campuses!

And lastly, a reminder that today is the final day of Term 3 and we have an early finish:

Please ensure arrangements are in place for students to be collected at these times.

Celebrating Outstanding Attendance

At Beveridge Primary School, we know that every day counts. Regular attendance helps students build positive learning habits, strengthen friendships, and maximise every opportunity to learn and grow.

This term, we are proud to celebrate students who have achieved 95% attendance or higher and have been enrolled at the school for five weeks or more. These students have shown an outstanding commitment to their learning and will receive a Silver Attendance Certificate in recognition of their achievement.

Consistent attendance is a team effort, and this achievement reflects the strong partnership between students, families and staff in supporting every child to be at school and ready to learn each day. ?

A special congratulations to our strongest-performing cohorts, with Year 3 (36%) and Year 1 (35%) leading the way this term. We would also like to recognise the students and families in our Year 1 and Year 2 cohorts, who have demonstrated outstanding consistency across the year by maintaining the highest percentage8 of students achieving Silver Attendance Recognition.

We recognise that attendance can sometimes be impacted by illness and family circumstances, and we thank families for their ongoing support in prioritising school attendance whenever possible.

Looking ahead, we are excited to see which students can maintain or improve their attendance rate during Term 4. Students who continue to achieve 95% attendance or higher will be eligible to receive a Gold Attendance Certificate at the end of the year.

Congratulations to all of our Silver Certificate recipients. We are proud of your commitment, persistence, and dedication to being at school and ready to learn each day. Keep it up! 

A huge congratulations to all students who represented Beveridge Primary School at the District and Division Athletics Carnivals on Friday 4th September and Tuesday 8th September at Meadowglen Athletics Track. We were fortunate to enjoy fantastic weather across both competition days.

Our students delivered an outstanding performance, with a record-breaking 26 athletes collectively placing in the top two of their events. This incredible achievement saw Beveridge Primary School claim first place overall at the District Athletics Carnival.

A huge congratulations to Nyah L, Evianna G, Mila F, Sylvia C, Thomas S, Manvir S, Logan C, Jack N, Raph V, Gloria T and Allegra D, who continued their success at Division and have qualified for Regional Athletics and will represent our school on 14 October.

Don’t Worry Be Happy!

Students from 1C, 1D and 1G were fantastic during their performance at the school production and we were incredibly proud of their efforts. They spent many hours rehearsing and their preparation went well beyond learning the song and dance. Students also practised how to enter and exit the stage safely and quietly, ensuring each class could transition smoothly into the next performance.

The school day looked very different from a typical day, with lots of excitement and changes to their usual routines. Our Grade 1 students handled it all superbly and should be very proud of the way they performed and conducted themselves throughout the day.

Our Year 2 students have been busy with lots of exciting learning over the past few weeks!

In Writing, students have continued developing their information report skills by taking their research global. They have been investigating countries such as India, China, and Nigeria, categorizing facts about cultural celebrations, traditional foods, languages, and flags to design their own informative posters.

In Inquiry and Digital Technologies, students have finalised and published their Australian State and Territory digital slide presentations. They have been proudly sharing their research with the class using clear presenting voices, explaining key facts alongside curated images and answering questions from their peers.

In Wellbeing, students stepped into the role of "Secret Compliment Agents," learning how to recognize and celebrate the positive qualities of their peers by crafting thoughtful, specific compliment cards. They have also been developing their collaborative problem-solving skills, exploring our "TOGETHER" strategy to communicate calmly, listen to different perspectives, and support one another as a team.

Grade 6 Term 3 Week 10 Newsletter

Grade 6 Graduation Photo

On Tuesday 15th September, our Grade 6 students had their official 2026 Graduation Photo taken. This marked another special milestone as students moved closer to the end of their primary school journey. It was wonderful to see the cohort come together and capture a memorable moment from their final year at Beveridge Primary School.

‘Beveridge Beats’ School Concert

On Wednesday 16th September, our Grade 6 students participated in the ‘Beveridge Beats’ School Concert. Students had the opportunity to showcase their hard work and enthusiasm through their performances and enjoy being part of this exciting whole-school event. It was fantastic to see our Grade 6 students confidently representing the senior cohort and contributing to a memorable celebration for our school community.

Grade 6 Summer Sports

On Thursday 17th September, Grade 6 students participated in the rescheduled Summer Sports Tournament. Depending on their chosen sport, students travelled to Assumption College, St Patrick’s Primary School or Kilmore Primary School to compete against other schools from our local area.

Students represented Beveridge Primary School across Basketball, Rounders, 3x3 Basketball, Cricket and Softball. Throughout the day, students demonstrated teamwork, sportsmanship and resilience while putting their skills into practice in a competitive environment. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to represent our school and connect with other schools in the local community.

Footy/Sports Colours Day

On Friday 18th September, students celebrated Footy/Sports Colours Day by wearing the colours, jerseys and merchandise of their favourite sporting teams. The day provided a fun and energetic way to finish Week 10 and Term 3, with students proudly sharing their sporting interests and enjoying the celebrations with their classmates.

It was a busy and exciting final week of Term 3, filled with memorable experiences for our Grade 6 students. We wish all students and families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable school holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for their final term of primary school!

Our Foundation students have been exploring the joyful and colourful artwork of Heather Galler as inspiration for their final task for the Term. Students focused on identifying and creating a range of shapes while experimenting with bright colours and playful patterns.

Students began by drawing their own designs then decorating with pastels and oil-based crayons, carefully filling their artworks with a variety of geometric and interesting shapes.  

Once their drawings were complete, students applied watercolour paints over the top. They were fascinated to discover how the watercolour resisted the waxy surface of the pastels and oil crayons, allowing their shapes, lines and patterns to remain bold and visible. This process introduced students to an exciting mixed-media technique while encouraging creativity. Very impressive results. Well Done !!!!

Visual Art - Ambrosia        Term 3: Week 10

During Semester Two in Visual Arts, Year 2 students explored the concept of collage. They used a range of paper products, googly eyes, yarn and other craft materials to create their own unique funny monster creatures. This activity allowed students to use their imagination and encouraged creativity and self-expression. Students had the opportunity to develop fine motor skills, scissor control, shape recognition, and confidence in making artistic choices. 

This term in Visual Art, Year 6 students explored Australian First Nations art and culture by creating their own boomerang design. They learned about the traditional purpose of boomerangs and how different symbols are used to tell stories and represent places, people, animals, and journeys. Students planned their own design, carefully choosing symbols that had meaning and reflected ideas.

Victoria Police in the Mitchell PSA will be holding an online forum for members of the public within our community.

We would love to hear from you!

The forum will explore topics including:

• Current crime trends (incl. Retail theft) and crime prevention
• Family violence
• Young people
• Road policing
• Drugs and drug related crime.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN

Step Ahead Sports is focused on providing fun, engaging and skill-based sporting opportunities for kids of different ages and abilities.

Multi-Sport Holiday Program (22nd of September @ Mickleham Indoor Sports)

A fun day incorporating basketball, soccer and cricket, with plenty of games, skill development and activities throughout the day.

The programs are designed to be welcoming for all abilities, with an emphasis on participation, confidence, and having fun.

We are a small karate school based at Wallan Secondary College.
We meet on Monday nights during each school term. 

The next class will be on the 5th of October. 

Bushfire Safety

Fire danger ratings indicate how dangerous a fire would be if one started in those conditions and provide clear direction on the safest options for preserving life. They can be a trigger for action in the community and for school and household level fire plans.

Schools and children’s services listed on the Department of Education and Training’s Bushfire At-Risk Register (BARR) and those at some lower risk of bushfire or grassfire on the Category 4 list will be closed when a Catastrophic fire danger rating day is forecast in their Bureau of Meteorology district. 

Our school has been identified as being one of these schools at high bushfire or grassfire risk, and is listed as a Category 4 school.

Our school will close on a day forecasted as Catastrophic fire danger rating in North Central fire district.

The Department will advise our school of the potential for a Catastrophic fire danger rating as information becomes available, however the pre-emptive closure will be confirmed the day prior to Catastrophic fire danger day.

Fire danger ratings are forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology up to four days in advance. Should a Catastrophic day be forecast, we will notify you of the potential school closure via Compass and hard copy letter on the day prior and we will provide you with advice before the end of the school day.

Once confirmed, the decision to close will not change, regardless of improvements in the weather forecast. This is to avoid confusion and help your family plan alternative care arrangements for your child. It is also important to note that:

• No staff will be on site on days where the school is closed due to a forecast Catastrophic day.
• Out-of-school-hours care will also be cancelled on these days.
• School camps will be cancelled if a Catastrophic fire danger rating day is forecast for the Bureau of Meteorology district in which the camp is located, or if the travel involves passing through areas that have Catastrophic fire danger.
• All bus routes that travel through the Catastrophic area will be cancelled.

Families are encouraged to enact their Bushfire Survival Plan on Catastrophic fire danger rating days. On such days, children should never be left at home alone or in the care of older children.

For those of us living in a bushfire prone area, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) advises that when Catastrophic days are forecast, the safest option is to leave the night before or early on the morning of the Catastrophic day.

As part of preparing our school for potential hazards such as fire, we have updated and completed our Emergency Management Plan.
