Term 2 - Week 2

Principal Report

Dear Families,

Congratulations to Yellow House for winning our Athletics Sports day this year! The next round of the competition is on Tuesday 14th May.  Cross Country Trials took place at the Ambrosia campus on Wednesday for those students wanting to participate. We have close to fifty students who will be competing in the upcoming District event.

Foundation Enrolments 2025

Our enrolments are open and our tours have started. It is a real pleasure to show future families through the classes at the Arrowsmith campus. Our students are so engaged, learning and most of all very respectful and welcoming. If you have a child ready for Foundation next year, please pick up enrolment forms from either of the campus offices.

Anzac Day Commemoration

Our year 6 students put in a wonderful effort in leading our commemorative assemblies at both campuses on Wednesday. Our School Captains, Dante and Lily, also represented the school at the service in Wallan on Thursday and laid a wreath on behalf of the school.

Curriculum Day - Today!

Our staff are engaging in a full day of professional development on upskilling in the latest practice of teaching Reading. Our training will be provided by our Literacy consultant Greg Clements, who has been working with us over the past twelve months. This is sure to be an engaging day for all staff.

Auslan Song

At our Monday campus assemblies, our year 2 and 3 students will be performing the latest Auslan song that they have been learning. Please come along to watch and support our students. They love learning the language of Auslan.

Thanks P&F for running the sausage sizzle this week!

Yours sincerely,

Christine Cole

EVERY DAY COUNTS

We have had an increasing number of parents/guardians picking up their children early on a frequent basis. In the first week of this term, we had a staggering 53 students picked up early!

We understand that sometimes your children may have important appointments (ie doctors/dentist) however your child’s learning continues right until the end of the school day.

Picking your child up early is also very disruptive to the class and operation of the school. Our Admin staff are not always available to leave to collect your child from class.

During the school day, we ask you to please phone ahead if you need to collect your child early so we can locate them and have them ready at the campus Office.

Parents/Guardian will be asked to wait until the end of the school day if you come to collect your child in the last 30 minutes of the school day.

Athletics - Grade 6

Divgeet G - "Me trying my best in  long jump"
The school was at athletics are we were doing long jump. I was scared if people would laugh at me if l fell over or didn't do good at all. Everyone said it was fun and easy, so l felt like giving it a go. Everyone was looking at me, l was in fear of failure and everyone was screaming go! To me l was feeling a lot of emotions. I ran out of hope until someone gave me support to do it. I ran as fast as l can, trying my best and jumped. Everyone as silent for a minute as l looked back to see how far l went. People smiled and said good try. I was proud of me for trying.

Abigail Mc - " I tired something new!"
Shoutout to all the year 6's that participated in the 2024 athletics day. It was a very friendly environment. A few particular shoutouts that l have are for Gypsy and Shelby who helped me when l hurt my foot and congratulated me when l won the 100mts race. I'm really proud of myself for how much l accomplished yesterday like placing in almost everything l participated in. It was amazing to see everyone having a go at everything even if they didnt have any experience. As for myself l participated in every even except for high jump, becasue l had injured my heel in the 100mt sprint. I was chosen for the relay races with the students and teachers, and l had Zac E, Mrs Horton and Mr Lucas on my team. My favourite event for the day had to be the 100mt race. I just love the felling of sprinting down the track and the wind on my face, focusing on nothing except my breath anbd getting to the end. I hope that everybody enjoyed themselves and disovering what their bodies were capable of.
