Term 2 - Week 7

Principal Message

Dear Families,

This week we acknowledge National Reconciliation Week with students enjoying a very engaging cultural performance at both of our campuses on Tuesday.

Staffing Update

One of our Foundation teachers, Mrs Meg Esnouf, will be going on family leave as of Monday. Ms Tia Rigoni will take over as the new classroom teacher of Foundation B. Ms Rigoni has spent this week in the class getting to know all the students and how they learn best.

Our Wellbeing Leader, Ms Amanda Salem, will also be taking family leave from 15th June. Our Grade 1 teacher, Ms Dakota Allwell, has been appointed to the position of Wellbeing Leader to take over from Ms Salem. We have an interim teacher, Mrs Fiona Portman, who will take over the teaching of 1C.

We are still currently recruiting for two part time teachers for the Senior campus, a teacher for 4/5F and 6B. Due to the statewide teacher shortage this is proving very difficult. We are continuing to advertise the positions, and are hopeful to be fully staffed for term 3.

Grade 2 Transition Day to Ambrosia

Today all the grade 2 students had a jam packed day of fun activities at the Ambrosia campus. This was their first official transition day to the Senior campus in preparation for grade 3 next year.

6B at Arrowsmith

It was 6Bs turn to spend the day at the Junior campus helping our junior students with their learning and activities. Once again, our senior students were the perfect role models.

Next week on Wednesday we have six students competing in the Division Cross Country event being held in Kilmore. Good luck to those six students!

Stay warm and well,

Christine Cole

Mobile Devices

Mobile Phone Policy

A reminder that the Department of Education has in place a mobile phone ban that requires students who bring mobiles phones to school to have them switched off and securely put away during school hours. The ban applies equally to all government schools right across the state.

At Beveridge PS students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored at the Office during school hours. Students are required to sign in their device in the morning and sign them out at the end of the day.

At Beveridge PS we are strictly enforcing this procedure and have reminded our senior students of this policy this week.

I ask for the support of all our families, staff and students in continuing to support the implementation of this policy in our school.

Further information

Emergencies: In the event of an emergency or if you need to immediately contact your child, I ask that families contact the school office who will pass on a message as required.

School mobile phone policy: A copy of our school’s local mobile phone policy, which implements the government’s mobile policy in line with our local context, is available here: https://www.beveridgeps.vic.edu.au/page/13/Policies .

Parent support: The Mobile phones in schools webpage provides links to resources for families to help them balance their children’s time using mobile phones.

Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough

Thank you so much for supporting Beveridge Primary School Parents & Friends Committee, especially through fundraising. This term, we are running a Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough fundraiser to raise money for much needed resources and equipment for the school.

Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough is an exciting fundraiser, made by an Australian, family owned and operated business. There are nine (9) dough-licious flavours to choose from, including the most popular Choc Chunk and Raspberry White Choc.

You can also create your own cookie magic with the Golden Classic flavour – the base of the Billy G’s secret family recipe.  You can Add Hundreds & Thousands, macadamia nuts and white chocolate pieces, anything you like: the sky is the limit on what you can create! There is even something for your special furry friends, with a cheese flavoured Doggie Dough!  Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough is exclusive to fundraising – so stock up!

Get started! Cookie dough orders must be placed online using the online platform. Create your child’s profile by visiting australianfundraising.com.au, click on the “Cookie Dough Login” and follow the instructions in your order form. Order are open from Monday 20th May until Monday 10th June, so make sure you get rolling and create your online fundraising page today!

How do prizes work? Every student who sells two or more tubs will receive an incentive prize for their efforts! But why not aim higher? The more tubs you sell the more prizes you will receive! There are 11 prizes up for grabs, so why not set your own fundraising goal and aim for them all? Prizes are automatically ordered at the end of our fundraiser based on the number of tubs you have sold. You can also gain the chance to get your very own Billy G’s Scented Gel Pens by obtaining all of your online virtual badges.

Family and friends are your greatest supporters, so make sure you ask them for support. You will reach your fundraising goal in no time!

You can Win Big!  Our highest tub seller will go into a draw to win the $10,000 Budget Bonanza ($2,500 Coles Gift Card, $2500 Woolworths Fuel Card, $2,500 Harvey Norman Gift Card and $2,500 Visa Gift Card) OR a Playstation 5 Gaming Bundle.  Plus, every student that achieves all online virtual badges will win a Billy G’s Scented Gel Pens.

Don’t forget to refer to your Online Order Form for all the information. Happy fundraising!

Culture Incursion

All students had the  opportunity to participate in a whole school incursion with an entertaining exploration into the culture and day to day life of a hunter gatherer.
Troy Allen combined dance, storytelling and music, and had students and teachers  join him in the dance as they all mimic the kangaroo, emu and other Australian animals using their newly learnt movements that stretch back thousands of years.
