Dear Families,
This week, I have had the pleasure of stepping into the role as Acting Principal while Chrisitine is on long service leave and getting to know all the students at Ambrosia campus whom I did not know before.
It has been a very cold week, with the lowest temperature being 1℃ and the highest only reaching 13℃ and many viruses and illnesses affecting our community! As a result, we have had many staff and students away sick.
Finding casual replacement teachers (CRT) is becoming more and more difficult as our state continues to have less teachers available to work, with the shortage of teachers/educators hitting a record low in recent months. Here at Beveridge Primary School we are doing the best we can to make sure learning continues for all students. We thank you for your understanding and support. I do hope everyone gets well soon.
Grade 2 Swimming Program
This week the Grade 2 students headed to Splash Aqua Park in Craigieburn for their swimming program. What a fantastic start to the program! The students are having a fantastic time learning to swim. They have had to be very efficient and independent in getting changed and ready for the lessons, and then ready again for the return back to school. Next week there are only swimming lessons Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Keep up the great work Grade 2!
Regional Cross Country
Wednesday we had some students attend Regional Cross Country at Kilmore Racing Club. These students were: Evelyn (4/5F) and Brylee (6D). Well done on your amazing effort girls!
Excursions and Incursions
Tomorrow Friday 21st of June the grade 1 students will have an Incursion as part of their Inquiry unit "Using our Senses". The students will be participating in a light and sound show put on by Professor Bunsen. Sounds like a great way to learn more about your senses grade 1!
On Monday 24th in lieu of camp this year, Year 6 students are going to Bounce. Have an awesome time, grade 6 students! Stay safe.
Cyber-Safety and eSafety
There has been a steady rise in schools and communities in Victoria currently experiencing eSafety issues (Cyberbullying, unwanted contact, gaming issues, etc).
At Beveridge Primary School we have begun our eSmart School journey this year and hope to have our full accreditation as an eSmart School very soon. All our students, from Foundation to grade 6, are taught specific Cyber-Safety lessons each week during term 1/2 and have an incursion related to cyber-safety and wellbeing.
In this week's newsletter you will find some information to support parents and families with Cyber-Safety at home. Please read and watch the linked videos to help you become more aware of the risks posed to your children while online and how to prevent these risks. I do also highly recommend all parents visit the eSafety Commissioner website: Parents | eSafety Commissioner.
Student Reports
Next Wednesday, the end of Semester 1 Student Reports will go live for our families to view on the Compass app. Next term on Wednesday July 24th will be a student free day as it is Parent Teacher Conference day. Families will be able to book in their times with the teacher from Next Monday 24th June..
