Term 3 - Week 7

Principal Message

Dear Families,

Our students have been extremely busy rehearsing for the upcoming Mary Poppins production taking place next week. We are all looking forward to the four performances, and can’t wait to see everyone in their costumes. Please make sure you have read all the information shared on Compass about the 2024 School Production.

Father’s Day Stalls

Our Parents and Friends committee have out-done themselves again by delivering a wonderful Father’s Day stall at the Senior campus this morning and are all set up for tomorrow at the Junior campus.

District Athletics

We are proud to have a select number of Grade 4 - 6s competing in our district athletics on this Friday at Meadowglen. We will all be cheering for you from school. Good luck!

Literacy Consultant Visit

Tomorrow we will also have another visit from our Literacy Consultant, Greg Clement, who is supporting us at Beveridge PS to transform our teaching of reading and writing to align with the Science of Reading approach. Greg will be observing classes at the junior campus and giving feedback to the teachers.

Yours sincerely,

Christine Cole

Grade 4 Bowling & Indoor Sport

On Wednesday the Grade 4s who missed out on one day of camp got to go to bowling and indoor sports instead. At first the bus went the wrong way but then we got on track for a great day of fun.

The lights at the bowling place were incredible and made our school logos glow! We got to play 2 games of bowling and in the second game the winner got a prize (a squishy bowling pin!!).

After bowling, we walked to indoor sports. We got to play soccer, ultimate paper, scissors, rock, dodgeball, golden ball and basketball.

After playing the sports we all felt 100 degrees.
It was an incredible, amazing, super fun day!!

Cyber-safety

Dear Families,

On Monday the 19th August we hosted a Cyber-Safety Presentation run by a volunteer, Tim, from the Australian Federal Police. Topics discussed were specifically aimed at educating and increasing awareness about online child sexual exploitation including avoiding inappropriate contact, online grooming, self-generated content, sexual extortion and how to get help.

We had about 24 parents attend the session who gave excellent positive feedback and found the session very valuable. Therefore, we will be running this session again in term 1 2025 for parents who couldn’t make it this time. Keep an eye out for the date and time in 2025.

As parents and carers, you play an important role in protecting your child from harm. This presentation aimed to support parents and carers in preventing and managing safety challenges that your child may face, as well as guiding your child to understand these and feel empowered to take action.

Tim provided us with some fact sheets that may help our families have those difficult conversations with your children and to also help answer some important questions you may have yourself. Please read the fact sheets below.
