Term 4 - Week 3

Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Tomorrow we celebrate World Teachers’ Day! I would like to acknowledge and say thanks to the amazing efforts of our teachers. We are very fortunate to have such a committed team of teachers at Beveridge Primary School who work so hard in the interests of our students’ wellbeing and learning.

We are all very excited to see our new DOUBLE STOREY BUILDING being installed this week. This building includes four classrooms and two breakout spaces. The building will be furnished and ready to use at the beginning of 2025 to accommodate the growing number of enrolments at the school.

The Grade 2&3 Disco is happening tonight in the gym at Ambrosia. Looking forward to seeing the students (and staff) in their disco clothes!

Diwali Celebration Day Friday 1st November

This year we will be celebrating Diwali at the school on Friday 1st November. All students will learn more about the Diwali festival and have some fun activities. Students are invited to wear cultural dress on the day.

Young Leaders Excursion

All our senior campus student leaders will have their final leadership learning day on Wednesday 6th November at Wallan SC. The students will continue to engage with student leaders from across our network of primary schools and continue to build their knowledge and skills of what it takes to be an exceptional leader.

Yours sincerely,

Christine Cole

Cycling and Scootering to and from school

It is wonderful that we have so many students riding to and from the Ambrosia campus each day. Please ensure that your child has a full understanding of the route they are taking each day and the road safety rules.

Here are a few reminders for you to discuss with your child/ren:

  • Children under the age of 12 may ride on footpaths, as can a supervising adult.
  • Bike riders are required to give way to pedestrians and to wheel their bicycles over pedestrian and children’s crossings.
  • Children aged 12 years or older are required by law to ride on the road.
  • Road safety authorities recommend that children under the age of 9 are supervised by an adult when riding on the road.
  • All cyclists and scooter riders MUST wear an approved bicycle helmet.
  • Parents or carers are responsible for their children travelling to and from school.

Please be aware that E-Scooters are only to be ridden by riders 16+

Mobile Devices

Mobile Phone Policy

A reminder that the Department of Education has in place a mobile phone ban that requires students who bring mobiles phones to school to have them switched off and securely put away during school hours. The ban applies equally to all government schools right across the state.

At Beveridge PS students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored at the Office during school hours. Students are required to sign in their device in the morning and sign them out at the end of the day.

At Beveridge PS we are strictly enforcing this procedure and have reminded our senior students of this policy this week.

I ask for the support of all our families, staff and students in continuing to support the implementation of this policy in our school.

Further information

Emergencies: In the event of an emergency or if you need to immediately contact your child, I ask that families contact the school office who will pass on a message as required.

School mobile phone policy: A copy of our school’s local mobile phone policy, which implements the government’s mobile policy in line with our local context, is available here: https://www.beveridgeps.vic.edu.au/page/13/Policies .

Parent support: The Mobile phones in schools webpage provides links to resources for families to help them balance their children’s time using mobile phones.

150 Birthday Celebrations

We are looking forward to celebrating 150 Years of Beveridge Primary School! An exciting day with some history of Beveridge, entertainment, food trucks and lots of fun!

Division Softball

24 selected students represented the school at the Division Softball boys and girls competition. This competition took place at Marymede Catholic College on Thursday 17th October, 2024. The students had a great day out and enjoyed the opportunity to be competitive. The students did a fantastic job of representing the school and the district. We faced some tough competition on the day, with our teams facing some narrow losses. The students learnt a lot through their experience at District Sports, a session with Tim from Softball Victoria, and through the division competition.

This event marks the end of the road for representative sport for 2024. We would like to thank all the students involved throughout the year and wish them all the best in their future sporting opportunities.  We are already excited for what is in store for 2025.

Under Construction

We have some exciting news!!

Construction of the new portable classrooms and toilets at the Ambrosia Campus has began.

We have received  four additional classrooms and two additional toilet blocks to accommodate the additional growth in our school community. These additional buildings will be ready to use at the beginning of the 2025 school year.

150 Year Merchandise

We are still taking orders for the 150 Year Merchandise! Please feel free to pop into either campus office or send order forms in with students.

Regional Athletics Championship

On the 16th of October the Regional Athletics championships were held at Meadowglen International athletics track. From our school both a relay team with 4 girls Blaze B, Charlotte E, Sienna T and Evelyn L and in the high jump Thomas S competed. We all put in a great effort but unfortunately didn't qualify for the next round.

The relay team came first in their heat but unfortunately came 4th overall and Thomas jumped a personal best finishing somewhere in the middle. This marks the end of the road for Athletics competitions in 2024. Huge thank you to Mr. Rai and all the staff involved in making this possible. We are looking forward to more opportunities to compete in the future.
