Term 4 - Week 7

Principal Message

Dear Families,

Our Grade 4/5 students (and staff) have very much enjoyed a day out at the Werribee Zoo today. With the warm weather I am sure they all felt like they were on an African safari!

Grade 2 Reptile Incursion

Our Grade 2 students loved their visit from the reptiles last Friday at the junior campus. The students were given the opportunity to not only learn about the animals but to touch and hold a turtle, snake, crocodile and a lizard.

Zooper Dooper Fridays

Our Grade 6 students have done a fabulous job selling Zooper Doopers on Fridays to raise funds to put towards their end of year graduation and Fun Fields excursion. It has also been wonderful to have our senior student leaders at the junior campus on Fridays.

Step Up Day Tuesday 10th December

It is hard to believe that our students will be ‘Stepping Up’ to their 2025 classes very soon to meet their new teacher and classmates. More information will follow closer to the date with an overview of the program for the day.

End of Semester Reports

Our teachers are into the busy part of the term with report writing. All reports will be live on Compass for families to access from Monday 16th December.

Yours sincerely,

Christine Cole

Student Placement Process for 2025

Dear Families,

The staff and I will soon commence forming classes for next year.

A documented process is followed to ensure that a high level of consideration and consultation occurs before classes are announced in December.

The ultimate goal for this process is to create well balanced, grouped classrooms of students. We will consider students’ strengths and needs in regard to academia, social capabilities, learning and behavioural style needs and peer relationships.

It is a major undertaking which we address thoroughly and thoughtfully. It takes a considerable amount of time and dedication to complete and professional judgement is always used.

We are asking for Beveridge PS parents/carers to commit to:

  • Supporting and accepting decisions made by the school; and
  • Being positive with your child/ren about the class and placement decision that has been made.

One change at any grade level creates a domino effect that impacts the classroom balance we work so hard to achieve. Because of this, we are asking for special considerations early on so that we can do a comprehensive job of addressing needs.

Parents must put in writing to Christine Cole (Principal) any considerations regarding your child’s placement for next year. This letter must outline in detail the important and relevant information you believe should be considered in the placement of your child/ren.

Parent requests for certain teachers or specific gender will not be granted. Neither will the request to not have a shared teacher grade. (We are more than happy to discuss how this works and it also needs to be equitable for staffing)

Please include your child’s name, 2024 class and your name on the letter.

Please email letters by 4:00pm Friday 29th November to beveridge.ps@education.vic.gov.au

ENROLMENTS FOR 2025

This is the time of the year where we plan staffing and grade placement for 2025, therefore it is vital that an accurate enrolment prediction is made. If you have a prep sibling that is not yet enrolled, this should be done immediately to ensure a place at this school next year.

STUDENTS NOT RETURNING IN 2025

Please inform the office in writing ASAP if your child is NOT returning to Beveridge PS in 2025.

Kind regards,

Christine Cole

Christmas Raffle

Parents & Friends Committee are kindly asking for donations for our Christmas Raffle. Any donated items can be left at the office at either campus up until Monday 9th December.
P&F Committee are grateful and appreciate all support in the fundraising effort.
Raffle tickets were sent home with students last week.

Cost to play survey

We encourage participants, clubs and associations to fill out a quick online survey to help us better understand the costs involved in playing and delivering community sport.

The first survey is for people involved in sport while the second is for clubs and associations that deliver community sport.

If you play and deliver sport or have children that play sport you can complete both surveys or the first survey multiple times (indicating the costs involved for you and your child/ren to play sport).

The results will help inform our future sport participation strategies and collaborate on solutions to reduce the barriers to playing and delivering sport.

The surveys close at 5pm on Tuesday 31 December.

Read more about the Play Well Strategy.

Wellbeing Team Kittens

The Wellbeing Team have been lucky enough to have some kittens join us for the next few weeks. Help us find some names for them! Please provide a gold coin donation to your teacher to put in a name suggestion. Names will drawn out of a hat and announced next Thursday.  The kittens have been rescued by Second Chance Animal Rescue and all money raised will be donated to them.
