Dear Families,
Welcome back to school for 2025! It's hard to believe how quickly the summer holidays flew by. I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break and is feeling ready for an exciting year ahead. A special warm welcome to our new Foundation students and their families, as well as to any other students joining us this year. We're so glad to have you all here!
We are also looking forward to hosting our new campus assemblies from week 3 (Mon 10th Feb). Ambrosia campus at 9:10am and Arrowsmith campus at 2:40pm. Parents/carers are very welcome to attend.
A very warm welcome to our new staff members

Grade 3-6 Swimming Trials @ Mandalay
Next Friday is forecast to be nice and sunny for our swimming day at Mandalay. Please make sure you have paid and given consent through Compass.
Meet & Greets
We have our Meet & Greet afternoons coming up in weeks 3 and 4. All families will be invited to book in for a 10 min conversation with your child’s teacher. Please look out for a Compass event notification in the coming days with booking information.
School Hats
A reminder that all students must bring and wear their school during recess and lunch time play breaks during term 1. We do have hats for sale at both campuses if you need to purchase one. If parents are unable to attend the office to purchase a hat, you are welcome to ring through to purchase one over the phone. Hats are $15 each. Students will be required to stay indoor and/or in shaded spaces if they do not have their hat.
School Dress Code (Uniform) Policy
Please make sure you and your child/ren have an understanding of our school uniform expectations. In particular, I would like to point out that students are expected to wear black school shoes and/or runners. A copy of the policy can be found on our school website.
Thank you all for a great first week back at school. Looking forward to week 2!
Yours sincerely,
Christine Cole
Dear Parents,
Over the holiday break, Arrowsmith Campus has had a little ‘face lift’. Thanks to the generous donation of the Parent and Friends Committee, we have had beautiful and colourful pave markings completed for our students to play with and enjoy.
We have an alphabet spiral, a numbers snake,a hopscotch course, a dance class circle, and an obstacle course. They all look amazing and the students absolutely love them.
We thank Parents and Friends for the donation.

Junior Campus Plumbing Works Update
We would like to inform all families that extensive plumbing works are currently underway at the Junior Campus to update our sewage and water facilities. You may have noticed the temporary fencing installed along the staff driveway to the campus – this is part of the ongoing work. These improvements will continue over the next few months, and we will be sure to keep you updated on the progress.
We’d also like to remind all families that the driveway and car park are designated for staff use ONLY between the hours of 8am and 4pm. For the safety and smooth operation of the campus, it is crucial that all signage and traffic management instructions are followed.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this important upgrade.
Bushfire Safety
Fire danger ratings indicate how dangerous a fire would be if one started in those conditions and provide clear direction on the safest options for preserving life. They can be a trigger for action in the community and for school and household level fire plans.
Schools and children’s services listed on the Department of Education and Training’s Bushfire At-Risk Register (BARR) and those at some lower risk of bushfire or grassfire on the Category 4 list will be closed when a Catastrophic fire danger rating day is forecast in their Bureau of Meteorology district.
Our school has been identified as being one of these schools at high bushfire or grassfire risk, and is listed as a Category 4 school.
Our school will close on a day forecasted as Catastrophic fire danger rating in North Central fire district.
The Department will advise our school of the potential for a Catastrophic fire danger rating as information becomes available, however the pre-emptive closure will be confirmed the day prior to Catastrophic fire danger day.
Fire danger ratings are forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology up to four days in advance. Should a Catastrophic day be forecast, we will notify you of the potential school closure via Compass and hard copy letter on the day prior and we will provide you with advice before the end of the school day.
Once confirmed, the decision to close will not change, regardless of improvements in the weather forecast. This is to avoid confusion and help your family plan alternative care arrangements for your child. It is also important to note that:
Families are encouraged to enact their Bushfire Survival Plan on Catastrophic fire danger rating days. On such days, children should never be left at home alone or in the care of older children.
For those of us living in a bushfire prone area, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) advises that when Catastrophic days are forecast, the safest option is to leave the night before or early on the morning of the Catastrophic day.
As part of preparing our school for potential hazards such as fire, we have updated and completed our Emergency Management Plan.
