Dear Families,
We have already made it to the halfway point of term 1! Congratulations to all students, especially our Foundation students who have achieved so much in their first weeks of school.
Swimming
An awesome effort to all students who competed in the district swimming event last Friday. We have a number of students who will be participating at the Division level of the competition in Broadmeadows next Thursday. Good luck!
Student Leadership
Congratulations to all students, across both campuses, who have taken on the role as a student leader for 2025. We are looking forward to seeing you all step up and be leaders amongst your peers. All students will be presented with their badges at the campus assemblies on Monday. Families are most welcome to attend. Ambrosia 9:10am and Arrowsmith 2:40pm.
NAPLAN Assessments
Our grade 3 and 5 students will be undertaking the online NAPLAN Literacy and Numeracy assessments coming up shortly in weeks 7 and 8. The students have been undertaking preparation in class understanding how to read and respond to the different questions and also how to use the devices.
Emergency Procedures - Lockdown Drill
Tomorrow both campuses will practice a Lockdown emergency drill prior to lunch time. This practice drill aligns with our school focus on safety.
Looking forward to our Zooper Days (Wed at Arrowsmith & Thurs at Ambrosia) run by our Parents & Friends committee next week!
Yours sincerely,
Christine Cole
On Tuesday of this week, myself along with our staff members, Aaron Hamilton, Teagan Denny and Blake Munro, participated in training for the Bike Ed program. You may have seen us riding with a group of riders in hi-vis vests around Mandalay Circuit!
The Bike Ed program is a program that gives children and adults the opportunity to learn about safe riding behaviours, road rules and riding in a shared environment. Bike Ed uses practical lessons to ensure riders have the physical abilities to ride safely and older students to ride independently.
We’re excited about this opportunity to promote cycling safety and skills within our school community and will be delivering the Bike Ed school program in our senior PE classes, starting with Grade 6 students in term 4.

It is a very exciting time for our school as we take a step toward celebrating our identity, teamwork, and sporting spirit. We are thrilled to introduce the end of a project that has been developed behind the scenes for many years. In 2025 our new house names have been announced and the students and student leaders are enthusiastic in adopting the new names.
So, without further ado, let me introduce the new sports house names:
Bungil – representing the Eagle and the Blue Sky
Warrin – standing for Wombat for Yellow
Marram – embodying the Red Kangaroo
Gawa – symbolising the Echidna in the Green grass
We have been working closely with the “Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation”, student focus groups and a public vote during our 150th Celebration to ensure the indigenous names chosen, closely match our community. But it is not all over just yet. While the names have been chosen, we look to continue to work with the wider community to develop our logos/shield/emblems that will represent the houses moving forward.
With these changes we hope to help develop house identity, pride, and camaraderie across our school.
Student certificates will be given each week on a Friday in their classroom.

The district swimming carnival was a fun day of competition, but in the end it all came down to your time. Students finishing first or second have earned their place in the next level which is division. Now if you want to talk about Beveridge we finished 5th out of 8 schools, individually we had a few firsts and many 2nds and 3rds plus there were a lot of races that came down to a flip of a coin that did not go our way.
To start off the day, many people had big nerves, We would like to give a big shout out to the students in the 10 and under who competed for the first time at district swimming and had the extra pressure of racing first! With our junior students being the most successful from the day. Here are the list of names that made it through, Owen.K, Logan.K, Leonard.H, Ivy.A, Hudson.L, Archie.C, Olivia.T, and Raya.A.
All the teachers were there to support, encourage and get us through the nerves, but a shout out to Ms. Denny for being the most energetic and encouraging teacher out there. Although we didn't have the best year at district swimming, we gave it all and came home with a couple of ribbons.
