Term 1 - Week 6

Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Congratulations to all our students who competed in the Division level of swimming at Broadmeadows Leisure Centre today! Looking forward to hearing who has made it through to the next level of the competition - Regionals! Amazing!

Thank you to our P&F volunteers for running Zooper Dooper days this week. It was definitely the right weather to cool down with icy poles!

NAPLAN Assessments

Our grade 3 and 5 students will be undertaking the online NAPLAN Literacy and Numeracy assessments starting from next Wednesday morning. The students have been undertaking preparation in class understanding how to read and respond to the different questions and also how to use the devices.

Phonics Teaching Sounds Write Training

This week we had an additional four of our teachers attend the first two of four days Sounds Write professional development days. This training will continue to upskill our teacher’s knowledge and practice of explicitly teaching Phonics in our junior years. We already have a number of teachers trained and will continue to upskill teachers as they join our school.

School Photo Day

Next Friday March 14th we have MSP Photography attending both campuses to take all student and staff photographs. Please ensure you have read all the information sent out in the Compass notifications.

Enjoy your long weekend! See you all back on Tuesday of next week.

Yours sincerely,

Christine Cole

Student Uniform Reminder

Dear families,

The Principal Class memebers would like to remind all families of the Beveridge Primary School Uniform Policy.

Attached to this message is the BPS Student Dress Code Policy as shown online on the school website. This dress code has been developed by School Council in close consultation with our school community to ensure that it respects the rights of individual students whilst reflecting the values and interests of our community.

We have noticed an increase of INCORRECT school uniform worn by many students so far this year and would like to remind families of the following:

  • Tops MUST have a collar – NO T-SHIRTS ALLOWED
  • Tops MUST have a school emblem on them (exemptions are in place for students with uniform from State Schools’s relief)
  • Shorts and skirts/skorts MUST be in the same style as in the picture below
  • NO TIGHT-FITTING SHORTS are allowed to be worn (ie. Active wear, dance shorts, bloomers, etc.)
  • Shoes MUST be black – see picture below for some examples
  • Students are NOT permitted to wear decorative jewellery to school - Stud earrings and sleepers worn in the ears, and watches, are the only acceptable jewellery
  • Fake/acrylic or extra long nails are NOT ALLOWED
  • Head wear MUST be Navy blue and/or white – ie. headbands, hair ribbons, “scrunchies” or headwear worn as part of cultural/religious beliefs (turbans, head scarfs etc).

Classroom teachers will give students a verbal warning first, but if INCORRECT school uniform continues, parents/families will be contacted as per school policy

Uniform items can be purchased from the uniform supplier PSW in Craigieburn. https://www.psw.com.au/

Beveridge Primary School also operates a second-hand uniform store for parents/carers at the Ambrosia Way campus.

Please contact the school to discuss support that we may be able to provide to families experiencing difficulty meeting uniform costs, including information about eligibility for uniform support through State Schools’ Relief or the School Saving Bonus.

Regards,

Principal Class

Christine Cole, Helen Bouris & Silvia Menelaou
