Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 2! I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new students and their families.
I hope everyone had a lovely break over the Easter holidays. Many of our students have shared their holiday experiences with us. They have travelled locally, interstate and some lucky students have been overseas. The students have settled well back into the school routine and were pleased to see their teachers and friends.
Athletics Carnival - Ambrosia Campus
The students in grade 3 – 6 were very excited to attend the athletics carnival at Meadowglen this week. They all put in an amazing effort into a number of different events which include running races, long jump, high jump, discuss and shot put. The winning House will be announced at the first assembly in week 3.
Anzac Day Commemoration
Our year 6 students put in a wonderful effort in leading our commemorative assemblies at both campuses today. Our School Captains will also represent the school at the dawn service tomorrow morning being held at the Mandalay Club.
Grade 4 Camp to Echuca
Next Wednesday to Friday our Grade 4 students and staff will be enjoying three days of fun and adventure at Billabong Ranch in Echuca. We all hope that you have a wonderful memorable experience.
Yours sincerely,
Christine Cole
Every Day Counts
The importance of regular school attendance.
At Beveridge Primary School, we prioritise regular school attendance. We will work with families to ensure students are in class with their peers and teachers and enjoying all the benefits that brings.
Attending school every day means experiencing what counts – the learning, friendship, fun and opportunities that can shape your child’s future.
Last year, students at our school missed on average 25 days (5 weeks) of school! This equates to half a school term!
We understand that there are times when your child will need to miss school but to ensure minimal disruption to their education, please consider scheduling family holidays or medical/dental appointments outside of school time. If your child is well enough to attend but is worried about friendships, schoolwork or exams, please encourage them to come to school. Avoiding school can make these feelings worse and can create a negative pattern of behaviour.
If your child is having difficulty attending school, talk to their teacher or a member of the Wellbeing team about getting support.
We know that parents and carers can be juggling challenges daily to get your children to school. If your child must miss school, notify us as soon as possible via Compass so we can work together to support them.
For more information about the importance of everyday attendance, see Attendance and Missing School.
Remember, Every Day Counts.
