Dear Families,
Congratulations to the ten students who competed in the Division Cross Country on Wednesday. An outstanding effort by all of you!
Government Schools Principal Conference
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week myself and Ms Menelaou, had the opportunity to attend the Government Schools Principal Conference at the Convention Centre in the city. For the conference, principals from across Victoria come together to hear from renowned educators and leading practitioners, and discover new ways of thinking about leadership excellence. I definitely left the conference feeling more energised and thankful to be principal at Beveridge PS.

On Friday week 6 term2, we went to Assumption college Kilmore on a bus. When we got there, we were split into our groups of Tee ball, Netball, AFL and Soccer.
During the games of tee-ball my teammates and I had to work together to find out what place would be best for us in the game. It inspired me to good teammate and to cheer people on when I saw Aleeza congratulating people when they were on the same base as her. I was proud of myself when I tried my best to run when I was batter and made a home run.

On the 30th of May, all the year 6’s went on a bus to Assumption College and faced the other schools in various sports. My friends and I played AFL 9’s. We played in the A team. In our first match we played against Broadford B. It was a fast-flowing game which we won. In the next game we played Kilmore’s A team, we also won. In our last game before a potential grand final, we had to play Broadford’s A team. In the first half, we were leading but in the second half they stared to catch up. Luckily, we won, and it was an amazing feeling knowing we were in the Grand Final.
I played in the ruck, which mean I would be starting the play. We scored first by James snapping it straight through the middle. By then the scores were 9-4 with our team in the lead. A few minutes later Our Lady of the Way scored putting them in the lead. We scored one more point, then at the last-minute Zac tackled Tayte and got a free kick. He went back and slotted it straight through the middle, it was a fantastic goal, so we all got around him. A minute later the final whistle had blown WE WERE WINNERS. It felt like we were on top of the world after a quick celebration we shook the other teams’ hands and thanked them.
During the day setbacks came but I had to keep warm and help my teammates. A tip I would give would be, “if you have had a setback during the day, try to distract your mind”. I think being a good sport mean, shaking hands after a game, not thinking about the result and comforting your team during and after the game.

On Friday the 30th of May, we went to Assumption College Kilmore for the 2025 Winter Sports. I selected Netball as the sport I was going to participate in for the day. I was on Team B (the black team). Our team was made up of 7 positions including GS, GK, GA, GD, C, WA & WD (C is for centre, G for goal, and W for Wing). We gave 100% effort through all of the day, persevering through challenges and tough times. At the end of the day, I had learned lots of cool skills and met some new people. We might have lost but we still had an amazing day, and it truly was a great experience. We are looking forward to 2025 summer sports and the experience of going.
Leading up to this event we had been learning new skills and techniques in Year 6 sport. We had been learning as a team to work together, and how to move the ball up the court, as well as passing and shooting, On the day we had encountered many setbacks, and I was personally very proud of how we handled the situation as a team.
