Dear Families,
We have our first assemblies for the term coming up next Monday at 9:10am at Ambrosia campus and 2:40pm at the Arrowsmith campus!
Next week, we will also have the Grade 3 Swimming program begin, the Athletics Carnival for grades 4 to 6, and the Mothers day Stalls. What a busy week it will be!
Grade 4 Camp to Echuca
Our Grade 4 students are having a fantastic time at Billabong Ranch, Echuca, for their very first ever school camp! The sunny weather has made it perfect for outdoor fun, and the students are thoroughly enjoying the range of exciting activities on offer. From team challenges to animal encounters, there's been plenty of laughter, learning, and adventure. It’s been a wonderful experience so far, and we’re so proud of how well they’re embracing the camp spirit! I have been lucky to spend the day with them today and saw their happy and excited faces! I'm sure they will be having a great sleep this weekend.
Foundation Enrolments 2026
Our enrolments are open and our tours have started. It is a real pleasure to show future families through the classes at the Arrowsmith campus. Our students are so engaged, learning and most of all very respectful and welcoming. If you have a child ready for Foundation next year, please go to the school website and fill in an enrolment.
Mother’s Day Stalls
Next week our students will have the opportunity to purchase small items from the stalls at each of the campuses. Arrowsmith on Thursday and Ambrosia on Friday.
Also, don’t forget to purchase some tickets for the Mother’s Day raffle. Our P&F committee has some wonderful hampers as prizes!
As I conclude my time as Acting Principal over the past eight weeks, I would like to sincerely thank our students, staff, and families for your ongoing support.
It has been a privilege to lead our school during this time and to continue working alongside such a dedicated and caring community. I am incredibly proud of the way our students have approached their learning, the professionalism and commitment shown by our staff, and the strong partnership we share with our families.
I look forward to continuing to support the school in my role as Campus Principal and working together to ensure the best outcomes for all students.
Ms Cole will be returning as Principal of Beveridge Primary School as of Monday next week.
Thank you again for your support.
Yours sincerely,
Silvia Menelaou

Welcome back to Term 2!
We have had a very busy first two weeks back, settling into school routines and revisiting our school values and expectations.
English
In English, we have been revising the letter sounds taught last term and practising how to correctly form them when writing. This week, we have focused on the letters d, e, f and v. Students have been listening for these sounds in words and practising writing the letters correctly.
Last week, we learned about ANZAC Day and read the wonderful story ANZAC Ted throughout the week, which sparked some thoughtful conversations across the Foundation classrooms. We also had the opportunity to attend an ANZAC Day ceremony led by our Grade 6 students. In writing, students have been learning to create mind maps through drawing and labelling to support them in writing sentences.
Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about the numbers 6–10 and how to read, write, count and match collections to their corresponding numerals. Students have explored these numbers using counters and ten-frames. We have also been working on location and using positional language to describe where an object is, such as in front of, behind, next to, on top of and underneath.
Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, we have been revising concepts taught in Term 1, with a continued focus on using the Zones of Regulation to complete “check-ins” so teachers can gauge how ready students are to learn.
Inquiry
In Inquiry, we have been learning about different materials, such as metal, glass and wood, and where these materials come from. Last week, we made binoculars and went on a “materials hunt” around our classroom, which was lots of fun!
We are all looking forward to another fun and exciting term ahead.
Kind regards,
The Foundation Team
Students at Arrowsmith have commenced the term by exploring some jungle scenes from the artist Henri Rousseau. They have started with some imaginative and vibrant works showing a tiger in the jungle. As we progress throughout the term, the basic drawing of the tiger will transform to a collage, where students will have practised cutting and tearing of paper, and also had the opportunity to utilise some natural materials to create their own masterpiece.
This week in Literacy, students have been reading the book How to Be a Prime Minister and Survive Grade 5. We explored the characters, important events, and the connections to leadership, decision-making, and democracy. Students practised sharing their opinions, answering comprehension questions, and identifying key themes from the text.
In Mathematics, students have been developing their understanding of multiplication, with a focus on multiplying one-digit numbers by two-digit numbers. Students used strategies such as arrays, partitioning, area models and vertical algorithms to solve problems and explain their thinking. We also practised applying these skills to worded problems.
In Inquiry, students continued learning about democracy and how Australia’s government works. Students discussed fairness, voting, rules, and the responsibilities of citizens within a democratic society. They made connections between democracy in Australia and leadership ideas from our class novel.
In DigiTech, students explored coding skills through engaging digital activities. They practised sequencing, problem-solving, and debugging simple codes. Students also learned about Australian values, including fairness, respect, and inclusion, and discussed how these values are important in our school and wider community.
NRL Tag Day
On Friday, 24th April, we were very fortunate to welcome Dan Feurnissin and his team from NRL Victoria to our school. The team ran an NRL Tag clinic for our Grade 1, 2 and 3 students.
Starting the day at the Ambrosia campus, it was fantastic to see our energetic Grade 1 students fully engaged and enjoying the activities. After recess, the clinic continued with the Grade 3 cohort, followed by Grade 2.
Students participated in a range of games and activities, learning the basics of League Tag, including pulling tags to make a tackle, playing the ball and evading defenders.
The clinic served as an introduction to the sport ahead of the anticipated return of the League Stars program later in the year. League Stars will be run onsite at the Ambrosia campus after school, so please keep an eye out for further updates.
When previously run in Beveridge, the program recorded the second-largest attendance in the state’s north, and we are expecting another strong uptake in 2026. Please be prompt in registering once further details are shared, as places will be limited.
Both students and teachers enjoyed the clinic, and we are look forward to more opportunities to work with NRL Victoria in the near future.
