Dear Families,
What a fantastic week it has been at Beveridge Primary School! There has been plenty happening across both campuses, including our campus assemblies, the national AusAlert emergency exercise, the Grade 6 Division Soccer competition, and a very special celebration as our Foundation students marked their 100 Days of School. It has been wonderful to see so much learning, achievement and school spirit on display.
Campus Assemblies & House Points
Congratulations to all of our students who received certificates and awards at this week's campus assemblies. It is always a highlight to celebrate the effort, achievement and positive contributions of our students.
A special congratulations to our Grade 1A&B students for confidently presenting “Pete the Cat” one of their favourite stories and to our Grade 5 students for sharing their learning and showcasing the great work they completed in term 2. We are incredibly proud of the confidence and enthusiasm they displayed.
Grade 6 Swimming Program
Next week, our Grade 6 students commence their swimming and water safety program. Over the next four weeks, students will participate in eight swimming lessons while developing valuable water safety knowledge and skills, culminating in the achievement of a Water Safety Certificate. We are pleased to provide this important program at no cost to families, with the program fully funded by the school.
Thank you for your continued support, and I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead.
Take care,
Christine Cole

Our whole school production of Beveridge Beats 109.9FM: The Homegrown Hour is taking place during the last week of Term Three on Wednesday 16th September. We will have three performances – 10am, 1pm and 6pm. All three performances will be the same and all students are performing in all three shows. Ticket information will be sent out during Term Three.
All students from Foundation through to Year Six are taking part in the production. We kindly ask that families provide costumes for students specific to the song's genre and era. Please see information below so that you and your child/ren can begin to find items over the holidays to help build a costume. If you require further clarification, please contact the office and we will forward your query to the relevant person who will contact you.
Please see the following link with the list of costume requirements for each grade.
School Production Costumes
At Beveridge Primary School, we believe that nature plays a powerful role in supporting our mental health and wellbeing. Even on cold winter days, spending time outdoors can help us feel calmer, happier and more connected.
We encourage families to get outside together, notice the beauty in our local environment and make time for nature as part of your daily routine. Small moments outdoors—whether it's a walk around the neighbourhood, listening to birds, exploring a local park or simply taking a few deep breaths in the fresh air—can make a big difference to our wellbeing.
Take care, stay warm and keep exploring!
Foundation 2 Update
We have had a very busy start to Term 3!
English
Students have been working hard identifying the middle sounds in words (for example, the 'a' in bat and the 'i' in sit). They have also been writing some fabulous sentences and discussing the beginning, middle and end of stories.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, we have been learning to read and write numbers to 20, match numerals to collections, and represent numbers using a range of materials. We have also been exploring different shapes and learning how to sort them based on their features.
Inquiry
Our inquiry learning this semester has focused on the concept of Place. Students have been exploring what the word ‘place’ means, the different places we know, and the special places that are important to us. They have been discussing why these places are meaningful and what makes them special.
Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, students have been learning to recognise how big a problem is and where it may fit on a catastrophe scale. They have also been practising de-escalation strategies to help manage their emotions when they are feeling in the red or yellow zones.
This week, we celebrated 100 Days of School! It was a wonderful day filled with costumes, laughter and lots of fun ‘100’ themed activities. Thank you to everyone who got involved and helped us celebrate this exciting milestone. We are looking forward to sharing many more learning experiences together as we continue through the rest of Foundation!
In Performing Arts we have begun to combine classes together for rehearsals so that we can begin to see how our performances will look and what extra learning needs to happen before our 2026 production takes place on Wednesday 16 September.
Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all of our Grade 4 families had a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break. It has been wonderful to see the students return to school with such enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards their learning. We are looking forward to another exciting term filled with engaging learning experiences, new challenges and many opportunities for our students to grow.
We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our families who attended our Parent-Teacher Interviews. We greatly value the opportunity to work in partnership with you and appreciate the time you took to discuss your child's learning, achievements and goals. Your ongoing support plays an important role in your child's success, and we look forward to continuing to work together throughout the year.
On Thursday 16 July, our Grade 4 students participated in a special day of learning and celebration for NAIDOC Week. Throughout the day, students explored the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples through a range of engaging and meaningful activities.
The day began with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, where students listened respectfully and reflected on the significance of these important cultural traditions. Back in the classroom, students discussed the meaning of NAIDOC Week and why it is important to recognise, celebrate and learn from Australia's First Nations Peoples.
Students then participated in a variety of traditional Indigenous games, developing teamwork, cooperation and an appreciation for traditional ways of playing. During the Art session, students created artworks using Aboriginal symbols to tell a story while learning about caring for Country and the importance of connection to the land.
Students also took part in a Yarning Circle, where they learnt about respectful listening, taking turns to speak and sharing ideas in a safe and inclusive environment. To finish the day, students watched a Behind the News (BTN) NAIDOC Week episode and worked collaboratively to discuss and reflect on what they had learnt.
It was wonderful to see our students demonstrate our school values of Respect, Togetherness and Excellence throughout the day. Their curiosity, creativity and respectful participation made the celebrations a meaningful and memorable learning experience for all.
Our Grade 4 students were delighted to welcome Phoenix, a beautiful Golden Retriever, who spent the day visiting our Grade 4 building. Phoenix brought plenty of smiles, excitement and calm to our classrooms, giving students the opportunity to interact with a friendly and gentle companion throughout the day.
Animal-assisted experiences like this provide wonderful wellbeing benefits, helping students to feel relaxed, build positive connections and support emotional regulation. It was lovely to see the care, kindness and responsibility our students showed while spending time with Phoenix. We look forward to welcoming Phoenix back for more visits in the future!

Answers to last week’s puzzle:
Deforestation
There are about 450 words that you can make with the letters from deforestation!

English words do not usually end in the letters j, u, or v. When a word would otherwise end in one of these letters, an <e> is often added to make the spelling look complete.
Examples:
have
give
love
blue
value
