SWPBS is a systems approach for establishing the social, cultural and individualised supports needed for all students to achieve both social and academic success. It is a way to support everyone to create the kinds of schools where all students are successful and included.
The purpose of SWPBS is to help you and your school select and identify the effective, efficient, and evidence-based things you can do to support all students to experience success. SWPBS enables you to organise those practices into a continuum; from universal support for all students through to intensive, targeted support for those who need it.
Evidence-based features of SWPBS include:
SWPBS Vision Statement
Working with the BPS staff, students and wider community the SWPBS team aims to:
Throughout 2025, students across all year levels participated in weekly Behaviour of the Week lessons. These lessons explicitly unpacked each of our expected school behaviours, ensuring they were clearly understood by both staff and students. This approach has strengthened consistency in expectations and language between classrooms and across both campuses.
Results from the 2025 SWPBS Assessment Survey and the Staff Opinion Survey indicate strong improvements in effective classroom behaviour, along with a reduction in reported experiences of bullying. These positive outcomes have been supported by the consistent adoption of SWPBS Classroom Systems practices and a sustained commitment to professional learning for staff. Data from the Attitudes to School Survey and parent surveys further reflect steady, school-wide improvement, particularly in the areas of student sense of connectedness and advocacy for the school.
Implementation
We acknowledge that we are on a journey to implement SWPBS across our school. Our TFI (Tiered Fidelity Inventory) annual self-assessment suggests we are implementing 80% of the School-Wide elements of SWPBS. Completing this annually allows us to make modifications to our practice and identify areas for improvement.
We look forward to the continued development of our SWPBS implementation and remain committed to supporting all students to achieve both social and academic success.
